Tickets for the Missouri Lotto went on sale on January 20th, 1986. An executive director is responsible for overseeing the organization and reporting to a five-member commission. In December 2009, the position of executive governor was taken by May Scheve Reardon. All monies that were earned through the sale of lottery tickets since 1993 have been dedicated to a variety of education programs in Missouri.
